Prime weather of another ACH ride

mood: satisfied

Well, The temps warmed up nicely for us SoCalers this weekend. It reached a high of 72 today, perfect for throwing on some leathers and carving up some canyons. smile

Ryan (aka Rhymesayer) posted on SCS to see if anyone was interested in riding ACH earlier in the week. I jumped in on the bandwagon. We did the usual, met at the Shell Station at the bottom of ACH @ 9am. I arrived a bit late, but the gang hadn't left yet . . and I wasn't the last one to show.

Once everyone arrived, an ACH vet, Pablo (aka pantablo) took us up a different route than usual. We took the 210 FWY to Sunland blvd and went up Big T to AFH instead of the usual ACH to Newcombs. We had all saw a post that there was some snow on the roadside up near Newcombs.

We still saw some snow on this route, but not much. A couple places where the snow on the roadside was melting and water was running across the road. crazy
It was easily seen well before you went through the corner, so nothing really bad.

We stopped at the big tree on AFH and hung out for a while.

Once we were all ready to roll, we took the same route back. Once we got to the end of the twisties, we all went our seperate ways.

Great ride, great group of guys, great weather . . . what else could a motorcycle fanatic like me need?

Food, I went home and had a big ass Double Cheese burger . . . yum. big grin

Ventura County Bike Nite

mood: Cool

Since the weather was starting to warm up a bit, I decided to ride out to the VCBN on Thursday night (yes, this post is a couple days late . . cut me some slack) smile

I was one of the first to arrive and almost thought there was only going to be about 5 of us. As the night went on some more dedicated, brave (and a little cold) souls arrived. It turned out to be a fairly small gathering, but a good group none the less. If we keep getting this warmer, winter weather . . I'll go out there regularly.

Warm weather, new friends, old roads

Well, It's been a while since I went out and carved it up. I had to spend the later half of the work week in Kelowna, BC. The high temps were in the low to mid 40s. crazy Considering the lows here have been in the high 40s lately, I was anxious to come home to a weekend, with warm weather and free time to ride.

I was thinking about joining some riders on other rides, but by the time I could get my butt out of bed and ready to roll, many of them were already out on their adventures. So, I decided to just take a ride in my stomping grounds, the Santa Monica Mtns.

I figured that I would carve my way up Mulholland Hwy to the Rock Store, get some beakfast . . and then see if I knew anyone that wanted to do some more carving after I ate.

After eating a fabulous breakfast (maybe too much food) I hung out for a bit and saw a guy riding in on a bronze Kawi 636, just like the one I had the chance to ride at the MotoGP (thanks Steve). We started talking about the bike and riding. We decided to ride up to the Overlook and then decide what to do from there.

We chilled at the Overlook for a bit and I got my first picture WITH the bike (can be believe it took this long). Too bad it wasn't an action shot, but this will have to do for now:

Since I hadn't done Latigo Cyn in a while, we decided to head there. Jesse was in good form and eventually passed me at some point on the way down. That 636 is a scapel and Latigo Cyn is tight. Once we got to the bottom, where Latigo meets PCH, we rode right back up.

We decided to head back to the Rock Store for something to drink (it was quite warm out . . probably 80 degrees or more). We chilled there for a bit. I saw some old friends and met some new ones. It was a good day, I'm looking forward to riding with Jesse again. big grin
