07/05/2006: "I got her back today!!"

I got the call this morning around 10:45am. Robyn was ready to be picked up. So, I get a ride over to the tow yard. Just to find out that 'I' had to pay for the towing charges and storage. $371!!!

The detective on the case said that I should save all my receipts for anything related to the theft so I could turn them into the D.A.

Robyn had been sitting on her side for 3 days in the back of the van. Everyone had stick orders not to touch her until the fingerprinting was done. So, some oil had leaked passed the rings and into the exhaust headers. Needless to say, once I got it started, there was lots of smoke coming out out the exhaust.

Getting it started was a whole different issue. Seems the theif is a complete idiot and thought he was disabling the alarm, but really just cut the ground wire for the PCIII. Once I figured that out (and got a little wire fixin' help for the tow yard guys) . . I got her started.

Despite the fact that the license plate was simply bolted to the CF license plate holder, the idiot decided to rip the license plate off. This totally screwed up the license plate holder and left my rear turn signals dangling. Some zip ties are doing the job for now, until I can afford to replace the CF license plate holder. (Any contributions would be greatly appreciated)

Once I got it started, I took a good look around the bike to make sure there was nothing else that would prevent me from riding it away. I found 2 nasty scrates on the tail section:

I then discovered that the left side of the fairing stay was broken:

I also discovered that the idiot probably tried to roll it with the disc lock on and badly cracked my CF front fender:

Did I mention that the seat cowl has a nasty scratch and gouge from him popping it open. I also didn't mention a missing seat bolt and a stripped seat bolt. Guess it's hard to be careful when you and idiot theif in a hurry.

I'll have to front all the money required to restore it (again, donation are now being accepted) . . but then I get to submit my receipts to the D.A. and get reimbursed for everything.

So, I had to head over to the DMV to get a new license plate. This process was actually quite painless and hardly cost me anything ($17).

I guess I should just be happy that I got Robyn back and that at least one of the theives that stole it is in jail and going to get prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I'll be in court making sure of that.
